Rules

MvT and Pilning station challenge leaflet: Pilning Scramble. The grand Pilning Train Challenge. Leaving on the morning train, visit stations large and small and accumulate points along the way before successfully making it back to Pilning again in the afternoon. The number of points awarded are determined by the initial letter of each visited station's name.
Hashtag Pilning Scramble. Visit as many or as few stations as you like. Only the initial letter of each station's name scores points. Points per letter as listed below. Official station names as displayed on nationalrail.co.uk. A 1, B 3, C 3, D 2, E 1, F 4, G 2, H 4, I 1, J 8, K 5, L 1, M 3, N 1, O 1, P 3, Q 10, R 1, S 1, T 1, U 1, V 4, W 4, Y 4. Each letter may be used ONCE only when calculating your total Scramble score. An exclusive Pilning Scramble ticket will be issued to every challenger achieving the minimum required points for each level as shown below. Bronze 30, Silver 40, Gold 50. All Scramble attempts must start and finish at Pilning Station, using the two services calling on any one Saturday. Pilning does not score. You must alight at a station in order for it to qualify, take a photo of its name, and depart aboard a different service to which you arrived. You may use any stations more than once, or more than one station whose names share the same initial letter. However each letter may be used once only when calculating your total scramble score. I.e. two visits to Bristol Temple Meads and one to Bath Spa will only contribute three points towards your total score (1 times B when B equals 3). All connections must be scheduled to be a minimum of 5 minutes. Timings from the public timetable in force on the selected date. However actual on the day connections that are less than 5 minutes as a result of late or early running services are permitted. You must use only scheduled public passenger train services. No charter trains, metro systems, underground, light rail, narrow gauge or preserved railways. No other forms of public or private transport permitted. You must always always depart from the same station at which you arrive. Transfer between stations on foot is not permitted. Rules and Bronze/Silver/Gold qualifying points are subject to change at any time. Always visit pilningstation.uk prior to travelling. All journeys taken at challenger's own risk. Always be rail safe.
