On the South Wales mainline, Pilning is an unstaffed single platform station. There's free parking, waiting shelter and live train information. Whether you walk, cycle, take the bus or drive to Pilning Station, let the train be your ticket to explore some of the jewels of the West Country and beyond. Pick up a journey planner, see local posters or visit pilningstation.uk and begin your adventure. The trains stopping at Pilning Station every Saturday reach Bristol in just 20 minutes, before travelling on to North Somerset, Weston-Super-Mare and eventually Taunton. CAUTION: only certain eastbound trains stop here (i.e. to Bristol). No westbound services stop (i.e. to Wales). It may therefore be necessary to travel via another station in order to make or complete your journey. A summary is below. Travelling from Pilning towards Wales, go via Filton Abbey Wood and return direct. Travelling from Pilning towards Bristol, go direct and return via Newport. Coming to Pilning from Wales, travel direct and return via Filton Abbey Wood. Coming to Pilning from Bristol, travel via Newport and return direct. Change at Filton Abbey Wood for Cardiff, Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham and more. For nationwide intercity services, change at Bristol Temple Meads. Information for visitors to Pilning Station arriving by train: The closest bus stop is a 20 minute walk from the station. An hourly service operates to Severn Beach station from 09:45 until 18:45 and to Cribbs Causeway from 08:13 until 17:13. Walking between Pilning and Severn Beach stations takes approximately an hour and there are plenty of places along the way to stop for something to eat or drink. The Pilning Station Group promote the station's use and campaign for improvements to facilities including lighting, additional services and a footbridge. Severn Beach and New Passage Heritage Trails: If combining your visit to Pilning with a trip along the Severn Beach line, spend an hour or two exploring the rich history of this small part of Severnside. The Local History Group have created two Heritage Trails, one beginning on the sea wall at the end of New Passage Road and the other just outside Severn Beach railway Station. Free guides are available to pick up from retailers in Severn Beach.

The trains stopping at Pilning Station every Saturday reach Bristol in just 20 minutes, before travelling on to North Somerset, Weston-Super-Mare and eventually Taunton. Many major towns and cities of the region are only an hour away and if returning Pilning, there's between 4 and 5 hours to enjoy your destination before making your way back. For anyone wishing to stay longer, set off later or venture a little further, then a Pilning ticket generally also permits travel back to Severn Beach instead. Train services at Pilning, Saturdays only (summarisation). The morning train departs Cardiff Central at 08:00 and Newport at 08:15. Pilning is reached at 08:34. The train continues to Filton Abbey Wood at 08:45 and Bristol Temple Meads at 08:54. The train continues on to Taunton, arriving 10:05. The afternoon train departs Cardiff Central at 15:00 and Newport at 15:15. Pilning is reached at 15:34. The train continues to Filton Abbey Wood at 15:45 and Bristol Temple Meads at 15:53. The train continues on to Taunton, arriving 16:55. Bus number 625 Severn Beach to UWE Frenchay (summary). Hours of operation: 08:00 to 17:00 inclusive. Buses depart Severn Beach Govier Way on the hour and Severn Beach Station and 6 minutes past. Buses reach Pilning, Station Road at 14 minutes past the hour. The bus continues to Cribbs Causeway, at 27 minutes past, Bristol Parkway station at 49 minutes past, then terminating at UWE Frenchay campus at 55 minutes past. Bus number 625 UWE Frenchay to Severn Beach (summary). Hours of operation: 09:00 to 18:00 inclusive. Buses depart UWE Frenchay on the hour and Bristol Parkway station (Bus Stop B) at 10 minutes past the hour. Buses reach Pilning, Station Road at 44 minutes past. The bus continues to Severn Beach Station arriving at 52 minutes past, then terminating at Severn Beach Govier Way at 57 minutes past.
